Last fall, the 73-foot Bolero, the famous Sparkman and Stephens yawl, began a complete restoration at Rockport Marine. If you are racing in Key West Race Week, one of the ways to get the boat there is to compete in the Fort Lauderdale to Key West Race the week before. Organized by SORC Management, which includes members of the Storm Trysail Club and Lauderdale Yacht Club, the 160-nautical-mile annual race started off of Port Everglades on Wednesday, January 14, and ran along the Florida Keys with a fleet of 46 boats spread acorss IRC, PHRF, Multihull and one-design classes. Here are some images of Thomas Coville (FRA) arrival on the 105-foot maxi-trimaran Sodeb'O in Brest, France on January 17, 2009. Thomas is the third sailor to finish a Solo round the world without stop on a multihull, after Francis Joyon (FRA) and Ellen Mac Arthur ( GBR). Thomas did the tour in 59 Jours 20 heures, 47 minutes et 43 seconds, but came short of breaking Joyon's record. Photos by Thierry Martinez
