When Californian Howie Hamlin isn’t off terrorizing the 505 or 18-foot skiff fleets, he might be found piloting a helicopter for an aerial photo shoot for a surfing publication. Click here to view gallery.

This image comes from the 1978 archives, finding Scuttlebutt founder Tom Leweck onboard his Cal 25 'Lollipop' in Marina del Rey, CA, with the crew in classic yellow foulies. Photo submitted by Bob Martin.

Submerged shipping containers is a thread that occassionally takes place in Scuttlebutt, usually after a racing boat hits one (with typically disasterous results). Click here for the recent thread on this subject.

The pros and cons of private coaching have been discussed this week in Scuttlebutt (click here for thread), and on display here at the 2009 US SAILING International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Youth World Qualifier and U.S. Youth Multihull Championship Regatta in Long Beach, California held Jan. 17-19, 2009.
