Submitted by William Tuthill, this Swan 53 has just completed a refit at Jamestown Boatyard following a lightning strike. Seeing her out of the water reminded us that not every boat sits above lengthy keel fins with bulb packages attached.  The 65 foot schooner sailing vessel "Ingolmar" sunk off Morro Bay, CA and is salvaged here Tuesday 28 April 2009. Salvage of the 65 foot schooner sailing vessel "Ingolmar" which first took on water late afternoon Sunday 26 April 2009, about 15 miles northwest off the coast of Morro Bay, CA, near Cambria, CA, and lost its keel, started to submerge. Click here for additional photos.  On April 26th, Ericsson 4 enters Boston Harbor after winning the sixth leg of the Volvo Ocean Race from Rio de Janiero to Boson. Photo by Rick Tomlinson  GMT Composites of Bristol, RI (USA) recently supplied carbon fiber pocket booms for the total refit of SummerWind, a John G. Alden-designed schooner built in 1929. The GMT booms appear to perfectly match the sitka spruce in her masts, even when viewed from on deck. Full details.   The spotlight for Olympic competition was last week in Hyeres, France at the Semaine Olympique Française, which was the fourth of seven International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Sailing World Cup events. This cruiser/racer is now at the half way mark in the build process. The hull is now fully structured and the deck has been dry fitted, enabling systems and interior fit-out to begin.
