Washed ashore during the December 2000 monsoon season, Impy is buried on the beach at Pulau Rawa in the Johor islands of Malaysia's east coast, resting in a sandy grave about 100ft from the steps to Tunku Alang's restaurant and resort - Le Club Rawa. This Jeanneau - Selection 37 won the first Phuket Kings Cup 1987 in Thailand, when she was then owned and helmed by Dato Azizz with a crew drawn mainly from the Royal Selangor Yacht Club in Port Klang. After nearly nine years, a team tried to dig her out last week. Click here to learn how they did.

Here is a photo from another self-serving press release, this one from Kito de Pavant onboard his Open 60 Groupe Bel off of Port Camargue (South of France). What were they trying to accomplish with the release? Maybe they were wondering if the sailing media would publish photos of a cow on an Open 60. Photo by Gilles Martin-Raget.

Let's get beyond the fact that Richard Branson, who is the guy that sponsored Speedboat in their illfated transatlantic record attempt last fall, has a naked woman on his back. We find the fact that he can kitesail, and then how he can tandem kitesail, to warrant inclusion of the photo... honest! Click here for more.

The 69-foot Pendragon VI sits in Franklin Boat Yard's contruction shed before taking a road trip to the Christchurch (NZL) port of Lyttelton for fitting of her 5 metre long, 9 ton lifting keel and then shipping to Auckland for the fitting of her 30 metre mast and her sail wardrobe. Built entirely in carbon fibre pre-preg and cured in the new 28 metre oven that Franklin's built to handle the job, with the interior ends finished in high gloss over the carbon fibre while the centre area is a paint finish with American maple trim and red upholstery. She will sport a Southern Spars rig with North Sails, a lifting keel, and a 75hp Volvo Penta auxiliary with a retractable drive. Ultimately, she will call Southern California her home.

Photographer Maureen Koeppel catches up with the 505 class during the Larchmont Yacht Club (Larchmont, New York) Memorial Day Regatta - One Design on May 23, 2009

(Geneva, Switzerland) - Since her maiden flight at the beginning of April, the SYZ & CO hydrofoil catamaran went through an intensive training campaign that has permitted to validate her capacity to fly and has demonstrated the boat’s huge speed potential. At the end of this first test phase, the project team has identified, together with the architects and engineers, several possible alterations to improve her performance and has decided to take the boat out of the water in order to optimize it in time for the record season. The boat has thus been taken out of the water on May 26th and brought back to the shipyard in order to quickly start working on the changes and optimize her performance in view of the record season at the end of the summer.

"It is right there. Why can't you see it? The downhaul line is stuck. Holy cr@p! Just pull on it!" Photo by Leighton O'Connor

From Rob Mundle: "This guy decided to commence a passage (in Australia) from Southport to Yeppoon in seas 9 to 10 mtrs and a storm warning with winds that had at times been recorded at 68 kts at the seaway - just under hurricane force."
