A Gathering of Adams Cup History

More than 50 past Adams Cup sailors and participants gathered for the 2017 Adams Cup Reunion, organized by The National Sailing Hall of Fame on May 19-21 in Annapolis, MD. The Adams Cup was the competition for the United States Women’s Sailing Championship. First held in 1924, it was organized by US Sailing and was raced annually until 2011.
Highlights of the Reunion Weekend included:
• A presentation by Rachael Miller (Adams Cup Sailor), from the Rozaila Project.
• A Panel Discussion led by Dawn Riley, Executive Director of Oakcliff Sailing Center, Crew, America3, US Sailings Yachtwoman of the Year, Adams Cup Sailor, on the topic of “Engaging Sailing’s Next Generation”. Dawn was accompanied by panelists Jan O’Malley, US Sailing’s Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year and Winner, First Woman’s Doublehanded Championship, and Louisa Chafee, College Sailing All American & US Olympic Sailing Team, Rio,
• Team Sailing on Bull and Bear at The National Sailing Hall of Fame
• Dinner and Storytelling at the Annapolis Yacht Club
