Filter Information
The proliferation of unsolicited email advertising (spam) has severely disrupted Internet communications. Internet service providers (ISP) now include spam-blocking features for their customers to capture their unwanted email. Specialized software also is available to load directly onto your computer, capturing questionable email based on certain language settings.
Long story short: If you are not receiving Scuttlebutt consistently each weekday, it is likely due to some type of language filter or spam blocker that is preventing the delivery of the newsletter to your inbox. In fact, many providers now have blocking features that you may not know about, including Yahoo, MSN or Hotmail.
The solution to overriding these filters is usually to get ‘Scuttlebutt’ and/or ‘editor@sailingscuttlebutt.com’ on the filter’s approved list to override their detection system (often called the White, Friend, or Safe List).
If your problem is at home, either contact your ISP or look on your computer to see how you can revise your set-up either with your ISP tools or with your specialized virus/firewall/spam/language software. If your problem is at work, you may have to ask your system administrator to follow through on these issues.
