(June 25-29, 2007) A new feature to the Volvo Ocean Race 05/06 was the addition of the Extreme 40 catamaran races while the VOR fleet was in port. These newly designed machines proved to be quite exciting, and are continuing to compete with highly professional teams. This week's video captures them - one being helmed by Ellen MacArthur - during the JPMorgan Asset Management Round the Island Race that saw a near record number of entries as 1,800 boats raced around the Isle of Wight. Also captured is Mike Slade's new 100-foot canting-ballast maxi 'Leopard 3', where its 35-person crew was sailing the boat's first race, along with a post-race interview with MacArthur.
