Scuttlebutt: Silver Medalists at Work
(May 10, 2006) 22 years after the Los Angeles Olympics, American silver medal winners John Bertrand (Finn) and Randy Smyth (Tornado) led the way in the new Volvo Extreme 40 Class last week in Baltimore when Bertrand raced with Smyth aboard his VX40 Tommy Hilfiger. This will also correct a Scuttlebutt #2086 report referring to America's Cup legend John Bertrand. As most Scuttlebutt readers will realize, Randy's crew was America's John Bertrand, who has his own America's Cup credentials but doesn't count himself as a legend. Blame a Volvo Ocean Race press officer who was probably still in diapers at the time. - Keith Taylor
