Thursday, August 21 - Day Thirteen

Winds are expected to be from the ESE direction at 15 knots, steadily increasing to 20 knots by late afternoon.

Note: PredictWind uses dual inputs into the model - from CMC (Canadian Meteorological Centre) and GFS (Global Forecast System / NOAA). With two comparative forecasts, when they both agree, a higher degree of confidence in the forecast is attained.

Saturday, August 16 - Day Eight

The stronger winds predicted for today will stay further offshore and so it is another light forecast. Both models show Northerly winds of 10 knots but dying out by start time to less than 5 knots. By late afternoon an Easterly breeze builds to 10 knots, but possibly too late for racing.

Friday, August 15 - Day Seven

The wind speed and direction graphs were not included today as they were not providing meaningful data. Unfortunately only the CMC model available Friday morning as the GFS is behind schedule. CMC shows NE winds today, with the big question of how much the mountains will shelter the race area. The forecast maps best describe the forecast with NE winds from 10-20 knots but some light patches depending on the sheltering from the moutains.

Note: PredictWind uses dual inputs into the model - from CMC (Canadian Meteorological Centre) and GFS (Global Forecast System / NOAA). With two comparative forecasts, when they both agree, a higher degree of confidence in the forecast is attained.
