2003 Transat Jacques Vabre Race: Open 60 and Open 50 start

Pindar

Open 60 Pindar, sailed by Emma Richards & Mike Sanderson, crossing fleet at start. They soon were forced to drop out due to equipment problems.


Cheminées Poujoulat Armor Lux

Open 60 Cheminées Poujoulat Armor Lux, sailed by Bernard Stamm & Christophe Lebas, informed race officials on November 3rd that their boat has major ballast problems which has caused their boatspeed to drop in the upwind conditions, but they are bearing their bad luck with patience.


To windward of Open 60 Objectif 3 (bow #55) is Open 60 Ciment Saint-Laurent Océan, which lost its keel and capsized within the first 24 hours. Objectif 3 would soon also retire with a broken mast.


Hellomoto, sailed by Conrad Humphreys & Paul Larsen, was one of five Open 50's to start.
