Scuttlebutt Photos: Valenica Harbor Update

(April 18, 2005) The following images provide a counter-clockwise construction update of the Port of Valencia, aka Dársena Interior. Images were taken from the balcony on top of the Media Centre. Photos by Anne Hinton

Looking out across the Dársena Interior and the location of the Foredeck Club for the Acts this June at the end of the pontoon. From left to right are the end of the white building to be destroyed, the fishing fleet (to be moved to make way for the canal), the containers in the distance and the white lifting bridge which will become the truck access to the container area.

The foundations for the Foredeck Club at the end of the long pontoon in the middle of the harbour, with the fishing fleet and white building in the background.

Just to the west/left of the white building [not in this picture] is the red and white brick building which is to become the headquarters for A.C. Management. Il Moro di Venezia is berthed off the site of Alinghi's future base.

The Shosholoza base (left) and +39 base (right), with the Alinghi base to the extreme right and the BMW Oracle Racing base to the extreme left.

The BMW Oracle Racing base, with the Shosholoza base in the extreme right of the picture, and the crane to the extreme left that will remain as a monument to the industrial port.

The white base structure to the left of the crane will be the Luna Rossa base. In the centre of the picture is the area where shops and restaurants will be. The long pontoon goes out to where the Foredeck Club will be this year. In the foreground, where the pleasure boats are, will be the media boat berthing area, just beneath the Media Centre.

The front of all the southern bases, looking out towards the white lifting bridge and the container area.

The foundation drilling site is where the base for Emirates Team New Zealand will be built. Next to this is the K-Challenge structure. The Victory Challenge, Desafío Español, Team Capitalia, and two spare bases are to be built in the area beyond the K-Challenge base. Car parking will be available in the area behind these bases.
