Scuttlebutt Photos: Geronimo in San Diego

(November 9, 2005) Photos by Craig Leweck.

Page 1   Page 2

Leweck holding onto the shrouds, which are capable of canting the mast eight degrees to windward...that means the tip would be nearly 22-feet to weather of centerline. The benefit from this adjustment is two extra knots of speed... priceless.

Skipper Olivier de Kersauson, who was gracious and helpful during our sail. This man just loves to be on the water... it is his life.

Standing at the base of the companionway looking forward, one of two cooking areas is to the left (the other is astern), with sleeping bunks forward on either side.

A view of the bunks, though there's not much sleeping when she's leaping off waves.

Looking back/up from the bottom of the companionway toward the twin wheels.

A little blurry, but the speedo reads 17.3 knots of boatspeed.

Looking forward from the wheel, you could almost imagine Geronimo as a very narrow monohull. The layout is not that dissimilar... only you are going much faster.

Olivier giving Leweck a turn at the helm, which was surprisingly light and balanced.

With our return ride greeting us, we cruised back to our cars at 30+ knots. Nice day!
