Scuttlebutt Photos of the Week July 23-27, 2007 A random assortment of photos submitted to Scuttlebutt this week. Click here to submit your photos for consideration.  The 2007 OK Dinghy World Championship has been on this week in Leba, Poland, with 125 entrants there to compete and celebrate the 50th anniversary of its creation in Denmark in 1957.  Submitted by Rimantas Stropus, who explained, "There are only 2 regattas for Tornado in Lithuania. We won the first one, with the second scheduled 4 weeks later. It was two weeks before the event when we were practising in about 10 knots, and then all of a sudden the bow broke. We think it was because of age; perhaps some 25 years for a boat is a bit too much. Anyway, we got back home, collected another same-age boat apiece from trash, and won the regatta."  The Soling Class appears to be alive and well, with the 2007 European championship seeing more than 60 entries in Norway this week, and the Worlds that in Argentina during November is expecting a good turn out as well. Not to be left behind is Danish boatbuilder Borresen, who has begun their production of Solings, and will have 7 boats made in time for delivery to the Worlds. Website: http://www.bbsailing.dk  Bronny Joy Daniels was on the press boat for the Transpac start last week, and while photographing some of the boats after the start, she heard a buzz over her shoulder, put her camera down to see what was above her, and was surprised to see the Pacific High Productions helicopter overhead (producing the Morning Light movie). Bronny snapped this photo, which catches the film’s Co-Executive Producer Leslie DeMeuse in the shotgun seat. http://www.Joysailing.com  Richmond Yacht Club’s Liz Baylis seized the lead early in the Mayor’s Cup (held last week in Long Beach, CA), and held it through the end to win the women’s match race event. One boat was dismasted and another broke its boom. Several sailors ended up in the water. The breezes also provided plenty of downwind planing for the 21 boat fleet. The winner was Will Paxton's Motorcycle Irene. Photos by Kos Picture Source Ltd (www.kospictures.com)  British quadriplegic sailor Hilary Lister completed a solo circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight this week, and is training to sail solo round Britain next summer. Lister, who is able to move only her head, eyes and mouth, sails her Artemis 20 using a ‘sip-puff’ system through two straws to control the sails and steering.
