Last weekend, October 13-14, 2007, Severn Sailing Association and Lightning Fleet 329 hosted the annual Lightning Frigid Digit Regatta. 40 boats sailed in perfect conditions all weekend with very shifty westerly winds both days. Boats traveled from New Jersey, New York, Canada, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Indiana, North Carolina and Ohio to attend this now major fall event. The regatta is a staple of the Lightning fall schedule and is now the way everyone ends their racing year. Submitted by Regatta Chair Joe Friebele.

Sixty-four competitors, including 47 large sail boats and 17 small boats, participated in the 11th Annual Leukemia Cup Regatta in Charleston last month that raised $179,000 by competitors and their sponsors. This brings the total amount the local regatta has raised since 1996 to more than $1.1 million. Submitted by Priscilla Parker.

The second annual Bay Area Leukemia Cup Regatta (in San Francisco, CA) became the top fundraising Leukemia Cup nationwide, with revenue proceeds through sponsorship, participant fundraising, boat registration, VIP dinner and silent auction totaling $296,400, more than double their last year's total. Submitted by Robin Reynolds.

Scuttlebutt's resident artist Don Allen provides some comic relief regarding the pending court case between the Swiss club and the American club on October 22, 2007.
