Ben Ainslie's name appears quite often in the Scuttlebutt newsletter, so we thought we better show you what he looks like. Famous for being a mulitple Olympic and World Champion in the Laser and Finn class, he then took a back-up helm role with Emirates Team New Zealand during the 32nd America's Cup. For the next cup, he has joined the British challenge, but while that event gets sorted out, he's been able to return to the Finn class and his preparation to hopefully again be able to attend and medal in the 2008 Olympics for Britain. Harmony Hall Yacht Club in Nonsuch Bay, Antigua, West Indies is a new yacht club that was just launched last weekend at the famous Harmony Hall here in Antigua. The first regatta was held last weekend while The Superyacht Cup was in town. Nine brand new Petticrow Dragons took part in the event on the waters of Nonsuch Bay, which are protected by reefs from the Atlantic seas to make a perfect racetrack for keelboats and dinghies alike.

A California yacht club tradition is to gather the membership for a day of holiday celebrations in December, often having special crafts and imported snow for the kids to play in. Also, Santa comes for the littlest ones, and of course his arrival is by boat. Here Santa arrives at the South Beach Yacht Club in San Francisco, CA. Photo by Paul V. Oliva

The Scuttlebutt website is blessed by the great support we receive from the photographic community, and one of our new friends in 2007 was Ingrid Abery, whose holiday card we share above. -- www.hotcapers.com

Don Allen has provided Scuttlebutt with a steady source of image parodies, and here is another one of his funny photos, helping Scuttlebutt share our holiday sentiments.

Large storm swells reached Morro Bay California on December 4, 2007, bringing 15-20 foot swells with some plus sets. A U.S. Coast Guard 47-foot Motor Life Boat was out for practice maneuvers in the large surf, which is not unusual. However, a large wave hit that was probably more than they bargained for. Scuttlebutt World Headquarters will be turning out the lights from December 22-29, enjoying the holidays with family and friends. Look for the Scuttlebutt newsletter to return January 2, 2008.
