Scuttlebutt Photos of the Week

A random assortment of photos submitted to Scuttlebutt this week. Click here to submit your photos for consideration.
Photographer Rick Tomlinson submits this parting shot of the famed big tent from last week's 2008 Acura Key West. Event organizer Premiere Racing takes over a downtown parking lot to host the land-based activities, and it is under the tent where an enormous amount of Mount Gay rum is poured, all the awards are distributed, and the unbelieveably loud "white sound" of the crowd is heard.
Erin Maxwell and Isabelle Kinsolving (USA) celebrating with their coach Skip Whyte after winning the 2008 470 Women's World Championship. in Melbourne, Australia. A week prior, this duo (or trio) won the Sail Melbourne Asia Pacific Regatta, which proved to be a handy warm-up for the Worlds.
Photographer Daniel Forster provides this sequence from Punta del Este, Uruguay during the Circuito Atlantico Sur Rolex Cup, where FORTUNA III was overtaking CANUTO REX and hooked the top of the mast with her shroud (click image to enlarge).
Americans Brian Sharp and Rick Merriman (right) have been taking on the Star world this week at the Miami OCR, leading the talent-laden fleet during the first three days of the event. Sadly, no one will get to see these "underdogs" take it to the end, as the duo will sail Thursday and then Merriman will fly out for his mother's funeral, who passed away the Saturday before the regatta started, after a bout with cancer. Don Allen is one of Scuttlebutt's frequent contributors, and his imagainative spin on recent America's Cup events keeps us laughing. These are a few from this week.
