Tom Weaver of the Eastport Yacht Company sends us this photo of the Eastport 32, which is shown here displaying one of its unique features: the Opti launch. Think about the tailgate on a pick-up truck, add some hydralics, and then apply it to a power boat. Nice! -- www.eastportyacht.com  Here is a prime example of how random our email is at Scuttlebutt. Has anyone ever seen one of these pools in their harbor? They apparently are perfect to ward off the sea nettle population along the US east coast and most recently, in the Mediterranean. Okay... what's a sea nettle? For a sweet $1360, you can be protected. -- www.nettle-net.com  The Lady Elizabeth - damaged in 1913 as she approached Stanley, the Lady Liz was originally built in Sunderland in 1879. She was used as a floating warehouse until 1936 when she broke her moorings in a storm and drifted to her current location at the east end of Stanley Harbor in the Falkland Islands. How come we suspect that this rusted relic would not be allowed in the U.S.?  This week's thread regarding overhead wires and contributions by the Hobie Cat company to rectify this safety hazard, reminded us that the company was not just about surf and sun, but also about responsibility. Frank Betz had sent in this photo some time ago, which is clearly from that "Have a Hobie Day" era.  Hardly a week goes by without the announcement of another around the world yacht race, or attempt at a new sailing record. So, what makes the "around in ten" race so different? The sailors are attempting to beat the world record set in 1987 by Serge Testa in his 11 foot 10 inch boat “Acrohc Australis”, by sailing around the world in ten foot sailboats! -- http://yachtpals.com/boating/around-in-ten  Ingrid Abery has hit the winning number in the photographer's version of the lottery... being at the 49er Europeans (in Palma, Spain) with big breeze and waves. Look for more of her photos next week.  This photo by David Aronovitz shows a fleet of Buccaneer 18s on Lake Pleasant, Arizona. While we don't know much about the origin of this class, if you squint your eyes, don't they look like a trainer version of a Flying Dutchman?
