Sean Langman's radical purpose-built Australian 9m sail boat/sail plane called Wot Rocket is seeking to be the first effort that eclipses the 50knot speed barrier.   The hot topic these days is the newly launched Speedboat, the Juan K designed maxi racer that is quite literally a Volvo 70 stretched to 100 feet. Here is a photo of its runner block... that has a maximum working load of 23 tons!  Ben Barger, the US Olympic representative in the RS:X mens division, had a nice surprise when he arrived in Qingdao for training in advance of the games... a huge poster of himself at the airport.   The Green Team’s Volvo Open 70 hit the water on Monday 16th June and then went for its inaugural sail the following day. The Reichel Pugh designed boat, built by McConaghy Boats in China has been based in UK since its arrival at the beginning of June. Top is a photo of the Southern Spar mast that was flown in from New Zealand.  Senso One, the 42-meter Elliot/Oliver/Briand design, photographed by Claire Matches at the Ulysse Nardin Superyacht Cup in Palma, Mallorca last weekend.  While intended for different purposes, here are Dan Meyers' Judel-Vrolijk 66 Numbers and Team Puma's Botin & Carkeek designed Volvo 70 il mostro versing each other recently in Newport, RI.
