Half Pint-o-Rum Regatta - December 6, 2008
San Diego, CA (NOR - Results) - Photos by Gretchen Dorian

Entrants sail down to start at bottom of Coronado Bay.

All yachts must anchor, and a boat representative must swim or row to the RC, stationed on the beach with a bottle of rum. Upon checking in with the RC, they pour their bottle into the wooden keg.

At the starting gun (horn) all representatives race back to their boats, weigh anchor and start racing.

The course is up Coronado Bay, keeping Buoy 26 to Port, to the finish line off the public ramp beach on Shelter Island.

At the Finish Line, a yacht representative must row or swim ashore, to the race committee stationed on the beach, adjacent to the ramp. Each must bring a cup to drink a swig of rum. Finish time is taken when the rum has been drank.

Following the race the fleet rafts up, at anchor, near the San Diego Yacht Club. The RC delivers the keg to the rafted flotilla for all to enjoy and announces the winners.
