Following a spectacular crash last August that resulted in multiple breakages, the Australian Wot Rocket world speed record attempt is gearing up again with creator Sean Langman and copilot Joe de Kock stepping back into the pod. Wot Rocket’s testing ground has moved north from Botany Bay to Lake Macquarie due to the proximity to Noakes Newcastle yard, where modifications can be easily made, and the flat water.  Here we see the VO 70 Green Dragon training for the Rio de Janeiro In-Port Race, showing modifications that include a twist spar and polygon headsail to gain additional sail area. A new generation of 29er sailors is blossoming in the US as evidenced by the 22 teams at the class' Midwinters West on March 27-29. In challenging conditions in San Diego's South Bay, Paris Henken sailing with 49er Olympian ringer Chris Rast sailed to a 10 point lead over top US Sailing U18 Team sailors Mac Agnese and Ian Simms. -- Full info and photos  444 crews from 21 nations faced off at La Marina di Scarlino in Maremma Tuscany during the Italian leg of the Europa Cup. Photo by Roberto Vuilleumier.  Over last weekend the Italian Finn fleet met in Punta Ala, Tuscany for the opening event of its Coppa Italia 2009 series. However on Saturday, racing was abandoned because the northerly wind was too strong at 30-35 knots, but that didn't stop Marko Kolic from seeking the limit of his Finn. Photo by Tosca Zambra.  The concept behind the SolOceans race was for it to be the first round-the-world single-handed race on equal footing raced on 16-metre high tech monohulls. A one-design event for the solo sailors! The boat has been tested, but now the event is having trouble getting started, and has postponed the start of the first edition initially scheduled on 25 October 2009 until 23 October 2011.
