Aquidneck Custom Composites launched their third Atlantic 57 Catamaran this week on August 18th . Cerulean made her way down the streets of Bristol RI in the wee morning hours Tuesday. The talented guys at Brownell Systems slid her into the water at the boat ramp in Independence Park. She is 57’ long, 29’ wide and took 18 months for the ACC boat shop of 10 to build. ACC has completed 3 of these Chris White designed Atlantic 57’s over the course of the past 4 years. Currently it is a the dock in Portsmouth getting a rig & sails. She will spend the rest of the summer with her sister ship “Leopard” in Bristol Harbor.

The Valencia Sailing website posted this picture that is claimed to be of a BMW Oracle spy boat that is following the daily sea trials and tests of Alinghi 5. Recon work is nothing new in the America's Cup, and there certainly is no sneaking around in this monster RIB.

From the New Bedford Yacht Club Junior Regatta, here the leader of the Laser Class heads to windward as the 420's come downwind. Photo by Fran Grenon.

Here’s a healthy reminder that the sport of sailing is not always finely tuned boats and perfectly set courses, but often people doing their thing with what they have, where they have it. This river race run by Chetco Cove Yacht Club in Brookings-Harbor, OR finds a very content fleet of older Snipes. Photo by John Payne.

FAZISI, the 82 foot aluminum hull maxi yacht that was the first Soviet entry in the Whitbread Round the World Race in 1989, is seen here at the Easter Seals Regatta on August 15th at The Royal Hamilton Yacht Club, in Hamilton, Ontario.

Beautiful 9.5 foot LOA scratch-built, radio-controlled (R/C) model of 1908 UK Fife Cicely schooner yacht, built by Andrew Charters of South Carolina. Traditional style sailing craft and classic yacht R/C and free-sailed models fall under the US Vintage Model Yacht Group (US VMYG), which is a special interest group within the AMYA. Photo was taken by Pat Butterworth during the August 7-9 American Model Yachting Association (AMYA) J Class Region 1 Championship held at the Herreshoff Marine Museum (HMM) in Bristol, RI.

When was the last time you saw a photo in Scuttlebutt from Istanbul, Turkey with the Blue Mosque making such a dramatic backdrop? Mark that off your Bucket List. Thanks to John Chandler for this photo taken by Ahu Ozkarahan.

We are still wondering how this photo got into the gallery (and who the gal is), and if any of these people are really listening to the music from George Wein's Jazz Festival at Fort Adams on Narragansett Bay in Newport, RI.
