Curious what a 36-foot hull plug looks like? J/Boats is telling us how the J/111 project is humming along, with the hull plug in the final fairing stage and they will soon be ready to start building the hull mold. Apparently the interest is surging for this boat, with the first 20 boats already spoken for.

The three day 29erXX SEIKO Superbowl regatta was held this week with international teams spanning four continents sailing the skiffs on Biscayne Bay. The 29erXX is a souped-up version of the 29er, with its sights set on becoming a doublehanded womens event at the 2016 Olympics.

C.W. Hood Yachts debuted their new One Design 32’ Daysailer at the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) “Strictly Sail Show” at Chicago’s Navy Pier this past weekend.

The Golden Gate Yacht Club start/finish line last weekend was used for the biggest sailing event of the year on San Francisco Bay, the Three Bridge Fiasco. For the 359 entries, the point of the event is to round marks at three bridges - the Golden Gate, Bay, and San Rafael bridges - in any direction and any order, in either doublehanded or singlehanded divisions. With a ripping ebb tide peaking at 5.8 knots, you knew there would be big winners and big losers. They do call it a fiasco, after all. Photo by Dave Keane

Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the sailing enthusiast from their appointed rounds at the Strictly Sail Chicago show last weekend. And if you are smart, you send your booth photo to Scuttlebutt to see if they will publish it.
