Fourteen year old Jack Simpson victory at an O’pen BIC regatta earned for him the chance to sail in the ‘18th man’ spot with winners Emirates Team New Zealand during the Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland event.

The Open Class 60s W Hotels and Estrella Damm will be racing from New York City to Barcelona, with their start between April 5 & 12. The flexible dates are designed to find a good weather window. When the boats race across the Atlantic, they hope to set a good record time. More information on this event is at the race website http://www.ny-bcn.org/en/index.jsp.

The ClubSwan Caribbean Rendezvous, March 15-20 2010 in the British Virgin Islands, had twenty yachts participating, ranging in size from a Swan 44 to a Swan 82RS. This photo has the Swan Yachts at the Bitter End Yacht Clup. Photo by Yachtshotsbvi.com.

On March 19 to 21, 2010, forty-two racing boats, with skippers hailing from Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands of St. Thomas and St. Croix, the Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands, and St. Maarten, sailed in six classes in the Puerto Rico Heineken International Regatta, formerly the Culebra Heineken International Regatta. In addition, there were 38 sailors competing in the Puerto Rico International Dinghy Regatta aboard Optimists, Lasers and Hobie cats and 30 entries in the first time kite-boarding class. Here is the 103-foot trimaran “GROUPAMA 3” arriving in Brest (FRA) after setting a new round the world sailing record of 48 days, 7 hours, 44 minutes, and 52 seconds. Franck Cammas (FRA) and crew of 9 are the new Trophy Jules Verne Trophy owners! Photo by Thierry Martinez, who did a nice job of framing the team with the huge GROUPAMA logo in the background (and for Scuttlebut to give the sponsor some unsolicited love).

From Craig Smith, Thistle Class Association Past President: "Here is the winning entry in the Thistle Class’s “SNOWMAGEDDON” photo competition. Marlene Reasoner was the winning photographer. This is her husband Dan in the snow filled Thistle in Chalfont, PA. The photo is titled, 'Wishing I Was Going to Thistle Midwinters'. There were 15 great photos entered in the competition."
