Mount Washington in New Hampshire is the highest peak in the northeast and home of the highest wind ever observed. It is also where a hardcore kiter can get stretch the northern hemisphere winter sailing season.

The Bass Strait, seperating Tasmania and mainland Australia, is a notoriously rough stretch of ocean. But as Tony Bull of Ullman Sails show us in this photo, there is also another side to the story. Here is the Bass Strait while approaching the finish of the Queenscliff to Apollo Bay race aboard Paul Buchholz’s DK 46 “eXtasea”.
