The 2010 Hobie 16 North American Championships and USA team selection event for the Pan AM games is taking place from October 11-15, 2010 on Lake Mohave, Nevada. Click here for details. Photo by Jeremy Leonard.




The ultra professional RC 44 class has its World Championship this week in the Canary Islands, after which the fleet will be transported by ship to Florida to finish their 2010 season championship in Miami, FL. Look for the class to also come to Key West Race Week (January) and San Diego, CA (March).




Bora Gulari (USA) with his new wing moth in Toronto (CAN) this week. The Wing built at Object 2 Skiff Works in Toronto for Bora Gulari (USA), 2009 Moth World Champion. The wing was designed by Magnus Clark (CAN) and Steve Killing (CAN). Magnus was crew for Fred Eaton’s C Class winner of 2010 C Class world Championship. Rossi Milev (CAN) and Rob Paterson (CAN) from Object2 Skiff Works built the wing in one week with Bora Gulari (USA) and George Peet (USA). Photo by Thierry Martinez.

Listen up: in Richmond, CA, there is a junior program that only runs during the winter, attendees generally provide their own boats, and parents must participate and lastly instructors are not professionals. In the realm of highly refined youth sailing programs, this format sounds... refreshing.
