Happy New Year from Scuttlebutt and photographer Christophe Favreau.

Over 100 Moths will be on the start line when their Worlds begin on Saturday in Belmont, Australia. That number alone is shocking, but this many boats hustling to go from low riding to foiling is a level of chaos that the sport rarely sees. Photo by Thierry Martinez.

When Howie Hamlin isn't kickin butt on his 505 or 18-foot skiff, he might be helming a heli along the Southern California coastline with his pals from Surfline. Click here for more photos.

The 29er class this week took their World Championship to Mar del Plata, Argentina where local photographer Matias Capizzano scored a perfect storm of exciting boats and big conditions.

Photographer Cory Silken provides us with a computer background for January. Click on either widescreen or standard screen, and then right click over the image for the menu options, and then choose 'Set as Background'.

Among the 74 entrants at the 2011 International Dragon Class Worlds in Melbourne, Australia this week, 40 of these represent 12 overseas countries. Which means they look like this when they get off the ship.

Tyler Carder: “Reading the sad news about the passing of Bill Langan made me dig out the attached photo from 1974 or 1975, taken at the Ponus Yacht Club (of all strange places) in Stamford, CT, after an intercollegiate regatta sailed in offshore boats (can't remember the name of the event.) In the back row, from left to right, are Tyler Carder, Chris Kiernan, Brad Dellenbaugh, Jim Hopkins; front row, from left to right: Rob Moore, Bill Langan, Jean Rawson, and Dave Dellenbaugh.”
