Happy belated St. Patrick's Day. Thanks to photographer David Branigan for shaing this gem of Kenny Read from the 2008-9 Volvo Ocean Race.

The kiwis came out of the closet this week to announce they have retained sponsor Emirates Airlines and that they have entered the 34th America's Cup. Here seen is Emirates Team New Zealand trialing their new AC45. Photo by Chris Cameron/Emirates Team New Zealand.

This week the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA), which will be the venue for the sailing competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, celebrated the milestone of only 500 days remaining to the 2012 Games.

The Access 2.3 will be among the boats used at the Access Class 2012 Combined World and International Championships to be hosted by Australia’s Middle Harbour Yacht Club from April 7-13 next year. The event, which provides a great opportunity for disabled athletes to demonstrate their sailing ability in an international arena, expects to attract over 120 disabled sailors from 12 countries.

U.S. solo sailor Joe Harris preps his new Akilaria RC2 Class40 designed by Mark Lombard. Joe and the team are now hustling to get GryphonSolo 2 commissioned, launched and sea-trialed in advance of the trans-Atlantic delivery from France to New York in time for the Class40 Atlantic Cup, which starts May 6th. That's alot of junk in the trunk!

The PR Manager at the Dubai International Marine Club in Mina Seyahi (DIMC) sent this photo from the Dubai Traditional 43ft Sailing Dhow Championships. It seems like every time we see a picture of these Dhows, there is some sort of iconic structure in the background. Or manybe that's how all the buildings look in the UAE.

Sailors are wary of maintaining a safe distance from lee shores. This photo by Daniel Forster along the coastline of Australia reminds us that some lee shores are more rugged than others.

Not all Moths sail on foils as shown here at the Classic Mothboat Midwinters hosted by Gulfport YC, Fla. The event was won by Jeff Linton (sail #102), 2007 US Rolex Yachtsman of the Year.

Here we see the Camper Sailing Team, who will be in the 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race. Apparently the team shorts were not fully distributed... hopefully everyone is wearing Camper shoes. Left to right: Hamish Hooper, Andrew McLean, Adam Minoprio, Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, Tony Rae, Stu Bannatyne, Chris Nicholson, Will Oxley, Rob Salthouse, Daryl Wislang, Mike Pammenter.
