There will be a historic Herreshoff celebration in Castine, Maine on August 3-4. The event will bring together, for the first time in 75 years, early-20th-century yachts of the famed NY-30, NY-40, and NY-50 classes designed by Nathanael G. Herreshoff for the New York Yacht Club. This week Scuttlebutt received a press release from the people that market the MiniCat. Highlighted was how Laura Dekker, who is seeking to be the youngest person to sail around the world, took a MiniCat for a sail during a break in the Caribbean. And to think the Dutch government wanted to stop her from taking on this dangerous adventure.
