It’s not too often when one of the world's top supermodels brings attention to the sport and a one design class. But that’s just what Doutzen Kroes of the Netherlands has done. The 26 year old beauty, who has been the face for many leading consumer brands and fashion houses, got immediate publicity when she offered her 470 dinghy for auction in support of charity.  PUMA's Mar Mostro navigator Tom Addis looks out at the bedlam as his team competes this week in the Transatlantic Race as part of their preparation for the 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race. Americans swept the top three positions at the 2011 Kite Racing World Championship in Sylt, Germany. Winning was John Heineken, with Adam Koch in second and Bryan Lake in third.  Keenan Madewell, on the centerboard, and Ameer Elzawahry work on righting their Club 420 after capsizing in Pensacola Bay (FL) during the SUBWAY USA Junior Olympic Festival and Independence Day Regatta. The Open 5.70s had 21 boats on the starting line making them the biggest one-design class at the event.   Sea Tow Services International reported that this year the number of July 4th weekend marine assistance calls to their nationwide 24-hour dispatch center increased by a whopping 32 percent over 2010.
