Daniela from PhotoBoat.com submitted this photo from the Pequot Pixel Invitational Regatta in Southport, CT. Said Daniela, "I thought this was a fun shot of these girls (Selin Selman and Maeve McKinney from Orienta Beach Club) slapping hands after finishing first in a race. They finished 4th overall in their class, but were very excited to get this bullet."   Designed by Stephens & Waring Yacht Design, the 75-foot cruiser/racer ISOBEL needed all of the high tide at the Brooklin Boat Yard this week to get through the mud and begin her sailing career.   This is the new Eagle 44 daysailer, designed by Dykstra & Partners, made by Leonardo Yachts. Can you see yourself spending an afternoon on this boat?  Like most Wednesday night summer series on Long Island Sound, the one sponsored by Sagamore Y.C. in Oyster Bay, NY is better known for gentle sea breezes, cold beer and beautiful sunsets than challenging conditions leading to a sinking. Nevertheless on July 13th the fleet was enjoying an uncharacteristic blast reach across Oyster Bay in 28 knots when the crew of a the 26 foot sportboat Twisted Tides rounded up and capsized in a vicious puff. Sadly the boat filled and sank before it could be righted but luckily all hands escaped soggy but unhurt. Photo and report by Willets S. Meyer. Once a capsize is imminent, the next decision is how to save yourself.
