In this reminder that Mother Nature plays for keeps, the Hick 34 Midnight Rambler survived this horrendous gale in the Tasman Sea to win the 1998 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Any trophy that can be filled with a huge rum and coke is a trophy worth winning. Here is the winning crew of the Brooklyn Ocean Challenge Cup - originally donated by publisher William Randolph Hearst in 1904.  This week in the UK, Simmer Style Weymouth Speed Week at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy - site of the sailing events at the 2012 Olympic Games.  In our weekly series of go-fast accessories, Carson Turowski shows some of the secrets on the J/24 "Bearly Muven" from Newport, RI fleet 50. Note the three cup holders on either side of the companion-way. You'll also notice the old school self tailing winches, so the genoa trimmer can more easily partake in the Thursday night festivities.  We are told this had a happy ending.
