A collection of Oyster boats in the BVI for the Oyster Regatta. Credit: Oyster Marine/Yachtshots BVI   It's dirt season with landsailors competing at the America's Landsailing Cup Regatta on Ivanpah dry lake at Primm, NV. Photos from Mark Harris.  Skippered by Frenchman Loick Peyron with a crew of 13, they sailed non-stop on the 40-meter Banque Populaire V around the world in an incredible 45 days 42 minutes 13 hours 53 seconds, beating all existing records. The crew was honored this week in Paris with the Jules Verne Trophy, which was first awarded in 1994 to the crew of ‘Commodore Explorer’ when they sailed around the world in a few hours less than 80 days. Both Simon Gill and Catherine Dufour are World Champion kite racers in the snow, but on this day in Montreal, Canada they have the best of both worlds. If we are really focussed on growing sailing, we need to realize that sailing gear on rocks is not nearly as inviting as bikini gear.
