C Class revival in 2013. It's looking to be a big year for wings and cats.
From T.J. Perrotti, Perrotti Performance Design: "The green one is a clone of Nat Herreshoff’s 'Amaryllis', famous for doing a horizon-job on the NYYC’s monohulls in 1876. This fully-functional model (complete with hinged/articulating hulls) was built circa 1900. The other (mahogany) catamaran model was built in 1930, and features planked hulls on steam-bent frames, each mounted on articulating, spring-loaded shock absorbers, the goal of which is to keep the central truss with rig, centerboard, and rudder motion-free and efficient in rough-water sailing conditions. We often like to think that our modern creativity is new and unique. In reality, though, our ideas are heavily built upon the creations of brilliant people who’ve tinkered about with similar boats, long, long ago."
