ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards 2008

(September 23-24, 2008) ISAF and Rolex have announced the Nominees for the ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Awards 2008. ISAF received nominations from across the world representing all aspects of the sport in two categories - male and female - and the following 10 nominations have been shortlisted. The qualifying period is the year up until 1 September 2008 and all achievements during this time are taken into consideration (click here for complete list of accomplishments).

Based on the following list of nominees, here is the percentage of the vote each candidate received when we asked...

57.42% - Anna Tunnicliffe (USA) - Women’s Laser Radial Worlds (6th), Olympic Gold Medal (Laser Radial)
23.44% - Sarah Ayton/ Sarah Webb/ Pippa Wilson (GBR) - Yngling Women’s Worlds (1st), Olympic Gold Medal (Yngling)
10.16% - Alessandra Sensini (ITA) - Women’s RS:X Worlds (1st), Olympic Silver Medal (Women’s RS:X)
4.69% - Claire Leroy (FRA) - #1 ranked ISAF Women’s Match Racing
