US Youth Champs revel in quality conditions

Grosse Pointe Shores, MI (August 13, 2014) – It was a fast and furious Wednesday on Lake St. Clair for the third day of the U.S. Youth Championships. After suffering with difficult weather for the past two days, the five fleets were graced today with sustained winds between 13 and 18 knots under sunny skies and temperatures in the low-70s.

New champions will be decided on Thursday. Start times have been bumped up an hour to 10:00 am EDT.


Preliminary Results (subject to change)

29er
The 29ers have been, by far, the busiest of the five classes. After posting four races on Tuesday, they completed six more today. The day belonged to Nicolas Muller (Fort Pierce, Fla.) and Ian MacDiarmid (Delray Beach, Fla.), who won four of six races. They take just a one point lead over Max Brill (San Diego, Calif.) and Zach Malcolm (Imperial Beach, Calif.) into Thursday.

Chris Keller (Riverside, Conn.) and Peter Schneider (Greenwich, Conn.) have three point advantage in the International 420 fleet through five races. James Westerberg (Riverside, Conn) Pierce Ornstein (Old Greenwich, Conn.) are tied for second place with Kristopher Swanson (Kentfield, Calif.) and Alexander Ron (Houston, Texas).
