IRC to use new headsail measurement definition

The IRC Technical Committee has announced a new definition of Headsail Head Point which takes effect in the Northern Hemisphere on January 1, 2015, and is to be used in the Southern Hemisphere beginning June 1, 2015.

New Definition – Headsail Head Point
ERS G.4.2 (b) shall not apply. Headsail Head Point is defined as: The intersection of the luff, extended as necessary, and the line through the highest point of the sail, excluding attachments and any luff tape, at 90 degrees to the luff.
