Support boat involved in Opti death

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) continues to investigate the death of 10 year old green fleet Optimist sailor Ethan Isaacs which occurred during sailing practice on November 21 in Sarasota, FL. The FWC reports the accident occurred as a 20-foot support boat was assisting another Optimist sailor when the operator lost his footing and fell, accidentally shifting the engine into gear and was thrown from the boat. The unmanned powerboat proceeded to hit several Optimists, with three sailors, including Ethan, injured in the incident. The two other children suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
