Inaugural HPR40 Midwinter Championship 2013

In what helmsman and co-owner Steve Benjamin called a “fantastic day of sailing,” his  Spookie has won the inaugural HPR40 Midwinter Championship here in Miami by a mere 1 point margin over Dee Smith’s Farr 400 Team Premier. George Collins and Ian Gordon’s Farr 400 Chessie Racing was in third, and Stephen Murray’s Carkeek 40 Decision finished fourth.

Raced using the HPR V4f1 rule calculator, racing in the class was closer than ever before, and results and data will be “used to help calibrate an upcoming V4g version which we hope will be even better applied for a wider variety of HPR-style boats,” said Rule author Bill Lee. — HPR website
