Transat Jacques Vabre race to start Thursday
Published on November 6th, 2013
The start of the 5460 mile Transat Jacques Vabre race from Le Havre, France to Itajaí, Brazil, which has been postponed since Sunday (Nov. 3), is now officially scheduled for Thursday (Nov. 7). However, given the big depression forecast for Saturday night and into Sunday, race management has option of requiring a weather stop, as authorized by the sailing directions, for Class 40 and perhaps also the Multi 50’s in Roscoff, France. That announcement will be made Thursday pre-start. The doublehanded race has 44 entrants, representing 12 countries, competing in four different classes (Class40, Open 60, Multi50, and MOD 70).
