Thomas Coville aborts record attempt

Published on November 13th, 2013

(November 13, 2013) – Solo skipper Thomas Coville has aborted his record attempt around the world alone on the 31m maxi-trimaran Sodebo, which began one day earlier. Around 15:30, while the maxi-trimaran sailing downwind in 23 knots of wind, the rope hanging from the small gennaker broke, which provides security when the skipper must maneuver the bow of the main hull. At this point of the record, and with another window looming early next week, the skipper decided to proceed to Brest, France. Thomas Coville should arrive Friday, November 15 in the afternoon to start as soon as possible.
