Ingham Wins Thistle Sarasota Midwinters Regatta

Thirty-one teams competed in the Thistle Sarasota Midwinters Regatta held February 28-March 1 in Sarasota, Florida. After six races sailed in light to moderate sea breeze, Mike Ingham and crew Dan Fien and Terra Berlinski won the regatta by 2 points over Paul Abdullah, Marie Abdullah, and Brian Swingly.

After Ingham built a nice lead on the second day of the regatta by winning all three races, his team found themselves deep in the final race on day three, but dug back to 6th place to secure the regatta win.

Third place went to the “all family team” of Jack Finefrock, Nicole Finefrock-Shedden and Jesse Shedden. Fourth went to Ben France, Barret Rhoads, and Jill Fattibene, who recorded two race wins in the regatta, including a horizon job on race 6. Fifth place went to current Thistle Class President, Scott Griffin with Scott Gise and Colleen Brew as crew.

The B Division was won by Mark Pytell and Mark Udell.

The Thistle class now travels across Florida for the Thistle Midwinters East Championship held March 2-4 in St Petersburg, FL.
