Eight Bells: Che Decastro

Che Decastro died on March 6 at 49 years in a freak swimming accident in St Maarten. Originally from Ontario, Canada, Che was upset by a wave and violently tossed around where his lungs filled with water and drowned.

Aside from his deep commitment to music, Che was managing partner of The Yacht Shop, a popular brokerage and service provider located in Simpson Bay Lagoon, St Maarten. The incident occurred after the 37th edition of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta.

Che was a no holds barred guy, always there to try what was on the leading edge of sports, always had a great respect of people, always a top drawer sailor. He helped many people acquire the boat of their dreams that actually suited their needs. He worked diligently at helping people become a better sailor.
