Diaz, Prada win Star North Americans

Marblehead, MA (September 10, 2017) – 2016 Star World Champion team of Augie Diaz and Bruno Prada added another notch on their belt by winning the Star North American Championship, building a 14 point lead in the seven race series.

Today began with a classic crisp fall New England north east wind in the teens, which allowed PRO Susie Schneider and team to set a 1.4 nautical mile course. Eric Doyle and Payson Infelise found their wings, comfortably winning the seventh race in the windiest conditions of the event.

However, on the final downwind leg the wind started to decrease, putting pressure on the race committee to complete the eighth and final race. While Diaz and Prada already secured the win, three teams were tied on points for second place, but after three attempts to start an eighth race, the wind became unstable and racing was called off.

Racing was held September 7 to 10.
