Rebuilding on Biscayne Bay

Published on September 13th, 2017

As the sailing season winds down across North America, the pendulum swings for many one design classes to Miami, FL. But after Hurricane Irma began its scrape of the southern state on September 10, the facilities that host so much sailing were not spared.

• Biscayne Bay Yacht Club
• Coconut Grove Sailing Club
• Coral Reef Yacht Club
• Shake A Leg Miami
• U.S. Sailing Center

These venues all report how tidal surge and high winds had damaged buildings and docks, requiring massive clean-up and repair. These are still early days as they fully assess their status, with the impact for winter racing not yet fully known.
