International Team Racing is back

Among the events frequently mentioned for Olympic consideration is Team Racing, but the genre hasn’t hosted a World Championship since 2015, which speaks to disinterest on an international scale.

However, the tide is turning as plans are underway for the 2025 and 2026 Open Team Racing World Championship.

The New York Yacht Club has been chosen to host the 2025 Open Team Racing World Championship at Harbour Court on May 28-June 1 in Newport, RI.  The event will be supported by US Sailing.

Gamla Stans Yacht Sällskap in Stockholm will host the 2026 Open Team Racing World Championship in downtown Stockholm harbour. Dates will be confirmed for August and the event supported by the City of Stockholm and the Swedish Sailing Federation.
