Ten nations for ORC Double-Handed Worlds
Published on June 9th, 2024
The countdown for the ORC Double-Handed World Championship 2024 is on with 68 teams completing their preparation for the start on June 11 in Oslo, Norway. With boats from 10 nations competing for one of three divisional titles, the final courses selected range from 300 to 340 nm with the finish anticipated by June 14 in Tønsberg, Norway.
“Starting in Oslo with inshore sailing between all the islands, where the fjord opens up, and the offshore race really starts out in the Skagerak Sea,” said Event Chair, Kristian Fodstad. “The sailors would experience local and coastal currents, shifty winds, and almost daylight nights.”
ORC Management Committee Member Patrick Lindqvist adds, “The ORC is delighted to witness such remarkable progress in double-handed racing, underscoring its growing importance and interest. We greatly admire the efforts of the teams traveling from afar, including Poland, Lithuania, and Finland. The dedication of the teams from Turkey and Spain, stepping out of their usual environments, showcases their strong commitment to discipline.”
