Published on February 5th, 2025

Entries are now open for the 2025 ORC Double-Handed World Championship to take place September 7-13 on the Adriatic Sea in Marina Monfalcone, Italy.

The 4th edition for the World Title will feature a two-race format:
• Long Offshore Race: Approximately 48–60 hours for the slowest boat.
• Short Offshore Race: Approximately 8–10 hours for the slowest boat.

The course racing area will be along the Italian, Slovenian, and Croatian coasts. Scoring will be weighted with a 1.5 coefficient for the long offshore race and 1.0 coefficient for the short offshore race. The combined scores will determine the overall standings, with no discards. There will be three divisions

Classes are defined as follows:
Class A: APH from 418.0 – 517.9 s/NM
Class B: APH from 518.0 – 557.9 s/NM
Class C: APH from 558.0 – 630.0 s/NM

Three divisions will be defined in each class based on crew gender: Male for crew made of two men, Female for crew made of two women, and Mix for crew made of one man and one woman.

“The sport of sailing is evolving, and fostering greater inclusivity is essential for its continued growth,” noted ORC Chairman Bruno Finzi. “By introducing dedicated male, female, and mixed divisions at the ORC Double-Handed World Championship, we are taking an important step toward ensuring that offshore racing remains accessible, competitive, and relevant for future generations.”
