2025 Larchmont Race Week
Published on July 20th, 2025
The 127th edition of Larchmont Race Week (July 11-20; Larchmont, NY) hosted nine days of sailing, over 450 boats and thousands of sailors involved, and nine nights of shoreside parties and events. Add to that how there was something for everyone on the schedule – fleet, team, and match racing to family fun races, swim relays, a pro/am tennis tournament, and scheduled fishing derby and SUP relay races.
From the sailing perspective, the schedule was divided into five segments. The first weekend focused on team racing (3v3 in z420s, 2v2 in Sonars), one-design fleet racing, a match-race round robin in two 12 Meters provided by Manhattan Yacht Club (USA 42 and 46), and a Family Fun Regatta in Larchmont Yacht Club’s fleet of Ideal 18s.
On Monday, the Club’s campus was converted to junior racing with 420s, ILCAs (7, 6, 4.7), and Fevas with Tuesday being the only day in the week with no wind. But that was okay as the juniors had more time to prepare for the legendary Larchmont Race Week Junior Dance.
Thursday was Opti Day with solid conditions, during the day Friday LYC hosted the Storm Trysail Foundation’s Junior Safety at Sea Seminar followed by the Around Execution Rocks Race (all one-design and handicap classes in one start sailing a mid-distance course), and the final weekend saw Sonars, Ideal 18s, and Melges 15s joining the one-design course with seven divisions of handicap and one-design racer cruisers sailing in an additional circle.
Winners and losers alike came ashore each afternoon to enjoy the gracious hospitality for which Larchmont Yacht Club is known. Food, music, and the innovative Beer Flag (indicating the 2-hour window of free beer for sailors) engaged everyone ashore maintaining large numbers of revelers well into each night.
