Sailing Program schedule for LA28 Games

The LA28 Organizing Committee has finalized the competition schedule for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games which will mark the biggest Games ever, featuring 51 sports across 49 competition venues in 18 zones throughout Southern California and Oklahoma City.

The Olympic Opening Ceremony will take place on Day 0, July 14 and the Closing Ceremony will take place on Day 16, July 30.

The Sailing Program on July 16-28 will have 10 events held at two Southern California locations, with Belmont Shore in Long Beach staging the board events and the Los Angeles neighborhood of San Pedro hosting the boat events.

Men’s and Women’s Kite will be the first medals decided, on July 19, followed by Men’s and Women’s Windsurfing the following day. Men’s and Women’s Dinghy begin the boat events, followed by Mixed Multihull and Mixed Dinghy. Men’s and Women’s Skiff will be the final medals of the 2028 Olympic Sailing Competition to be decided.

The Sailing Program will have both equal participation for male and female athletes, and equal medal events, building on the framework established for Paris 2024.

In a move designed to maximize spectator engagement and broadcast coverage, the 10 sailing events will be staged consecutively.

The competition beginning along the beach of Belmont Shore is a return to the venue for sailing at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympics. Following the completion of the board events, the competition will move to the Port of Los Angeles for the boat events.
