Unique caps for an unusual year

Published on September 29th, 2020

Jack Kunze, past Commodore of the Island Goats Sailing Society (IGSS), shares how the organization adapted in 2020:

The IGSS is an organization for sailors who have competed in at least 25 Chicago to Mackinac races. In normal years, our members enjoy a post-race party on Mackinac Island where they receive a special commemorative race cap. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 race was cancelled, but prior to the race being cancelled, the IGSS had already received commemorative 2020 race caps from their sponsor Peroni Brewery. In a stroke of creative genius, the IGSS board decided to adorn the back of the caps with embroidered flags used by race committees to indicate race abandonment. Unique caps for an unusual year!
